A prayer of David 1Hear, O LORD, my just plea, give ear unto my prayer, that comes from honest lips. 2Let my vindication come from Your presence; let Your eyes behold the things that are upright. 3You have proved my heart; You have visited me in the night; You have tested me, and shall find no evil. I am resolved that my mouth shall not offend. 4Regarding the works of men, by Your word I have kept from violent ways. 5Keep my steps on Your path, that my feet do not slip. 6I have called upon You, for You will answer me, O God; incline Your ear to me, and hear my words. 7Show me Your marvelous loving-kindness, O You Who saves by His right hand those who trust in You from those who would harm them. 8Guard me as You would Your Own eyes, hide me under the shadow of Your wings, 9From my wicked and deadly enemies that oppress me. 10They are hard-hearted and boastful. 11They now surround and are determined to throw me to the ground, 12Like a hungry young lion that lurks in secret places. 13Arise, O LORD; undo their wicked plans; deliver my soul from them, with Your sword: 14From men who only value the things of this world, and whose belly You fill by Your hand, O LORD, from such men, who have their portion only in this life. They will have children, and leave their (earthly acquired) property to their babies. 15But as for me, I will be vindicated and see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied, when I awake (in the resurrection) in Your presence.
