A Song of degrees. 1I lift my eyes unto You, O You Who sit enthroned in heaven. 2As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master, and as the eyes of a female slave look to the hand of her mistress; so our eyes look to the LORD our God, until He bestows His mercy upon us. 3Have mercy upon us, O LORD; for we have endured no end of contempt. 4We have had our fill of ridicule and scoffing by those who are at ease, and with the contempt of the arrogant.
