1My son, if you will accept my words, and treasure my commandments within you, 2So that you tune your ear to wisdom, and endeavor to gain understanding; 3If, indeed, you call out and ask for knowledge, and insight; 4If you search for wisdom as silver, and as hidden treasures; 5Then you shall understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. 6For the LORD gives wisdom; knowledge and understanding come from His mouth. 7He keeps sound wisdom for the righteous; and is a shield to those who walk in His ways. 8He guards the paths of the just, and the way of His saints. 9You will understand what is right, just, and fair; and choose the right path, 10When the joy of wisdom and knowledge enters your heart and soul. 11Discretion shall protect you, understanding shall guard you, 12Keeping you from the way of the wicked, from those that speak false and perverse things; 13Who have left the straight and narrow paths of uprightness, to follow the ways of darkness; 14Who delight in doing evil, and in the perverseness of other evil-doers; 15Whose ways are crooked and devious. 16Wisdom will save you from the seductive words of immoral women, who use flattering words; 17Who forsake the husband of her youth, and disregard the covenant of her God. 18For her house leads to death, and her road to the grave. 19None that go to her return, nor find the paths of life; 20Thus you will travel the way of good men, and follow the paths of the righteous. 21For the upright shall dwell in the land, and those with integrity shall remain in it. 22But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.
