1Then Jesus said to the disciples, “It is inevitable that offences (stumbling blocks) will come; but woe to anyone by whom they come (or does the tempting)! 2It would be better for him if a millstone were hanged around his neck, and he be thrown into the sea, than that he should offend (or cause the stumbling of) one of these little ones. 3So watch yourselves. If your brother or sister trespasses, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. 4And even if he or she sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to say to you, ‘I repent’; you must forgive him or her.” 5And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.” 6And the Lord said, “If you have faith as small as a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this sycamine tree, ‘Be uprooted, and be planted in the sea’; and it would obey you. 7But which of you, having a servant out plowing or feeding cattle, will say to him, when he has come in from the field, ‘Go, sit down to eat.’? 8Will you not rather say to him, ‘Prepare my meal and serve me, till I have eaten and drunk; and afterward you may eat and drink.’? 9Does he thank that servant because he did the things that were expected of him? I think not. 10So you also, when you shall have done all those things which are expected of you, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have simply done our duty.’” 11And now as He made His way to Jerusalem, He passed through the border between Samaria and Galilee. 12And as He entered a certain village, ten men that were lepers met Him, who stood at a distance; 13And called out and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” 14And when He saw them, He said to them, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed of their leprosy. 15And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice, 16And fell on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks; and he was a Samaritan. 17And Jesus, asked, “Were there not ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? 18Have none of them returned to praise God except this foreigner?” 19And He said to the Samaritan, “Arise, go your way; your faith has made you well.” 20At another time, the Pharisees asked Jesus when the kingdom of God would come, and He answered, “The kingdom of God is not something that can be observed. 21Nor shall people say, ‘Look, here it is!’ Or, ‘There it is!’ For, behold, the kingdom of God is already in your midst.” 22And He said to His disciples, “The time is coming, when you shall desire to see the day when the Son of man returns, but you will not see it. 23And people will tell you, ‘Here He is!’; or, ‘There He is!’. Go not go out or follow them. 24For the return of the Son of man will be like the lightning, that flashes out of the one part of the sky, and lights up or is evident in all the other parts under heaven. 25But He must first suffer many things, and be rejected by this generation. 26And just as it was in the days of Noah, so it shall also be in the days of the Son of man. 27People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage, up to the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. 28It was the same in the days of Lot; they ate, drank, bought and sold; planted and built; 29But the same day that Lot left Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. 30Even so shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. 31On that day, no one who is up on the housetop, with his stuff in the house, should come down into the house to get his stuff; and if he is in the field, let him likewise not return. 32Remember Lot's wife. 33Whoever tries to save his life shall lose it; and whoever is willing to lose his life shall preserve it. 34I tell you, on that night there shall be two people in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. 35Two women shall be grinding grain together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 36Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.” 37And then they asked Him, “Where will this happen, Lord?” And He replied, “Wherever a dead body is, there will the vultures be gathered together.” Reader-Friendly Bible: Purple Letter Edition © 2024 by Jim Musser.
