1And the LORD said to Moses, 2“Say to the Israelites, ‘If a woman conceives, and gives birth to a son, then she shall be ceremonially unclean for seven days; just as she is unclean during her monthly period. 3And on the eighth day, the son is to be circumcised. 4And she must wait thirty-three days from her bleeding; she must not touch anything sacred, nor enter the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying are fulfilled. 5But if she gives birth to a daughter, then she shall be unclean for two weeks, as during her period: and she must wait sixty-six days from her bleeding. 6And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, whether for a son, or a daughter, she shall bring a year old lamb for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a sin offering, to the entrance of the tabernacle of meeting, to the priest: 7The priest shall offer them before the LORD, to make atonement for her; and she shall be ceremonially cleansed from her issue of blood. This is the law for a woman that has born a boy or a girl. 8And if she is not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtledoves, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and then she shall be clean.’” Reader-Friendly Bible: Purple Letter Edition © 2024 by Jim Musser.
