1Then the LORD said to Job, 2“Shall he that contends with the Almighty correct Him? Let him that rebukes God answer Me.” 3Then Job answered the LORD, and said, 4“Behold, I am vile; how shall I answer You? I will put my hand over my mouth. 5I have spoken once; but I will not answer; yea, twice; but I will say no more.” 6Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, 7“Prepare to answer Me now like a man; I will ask you, and you answer Me. 8Will you annul My justice? Will you condemn Me, to justify yourself? 9Have you an arm like God? Or can you thunder with a voice like His? 10Adorn yourself now with majesty and excellency; and array yourself with glory and splendor. 11Give vent to your wrath; and look at every one that is proud, and abase him. 12Look at all who are arrogant, and bring them low; and tread down the wicked where they stand. 13Bury them in the dust together; and cover their faces in a hidden place. 14Then will I also admit to you that your own right hand can save you. 15“look now at the behemoth, which I made along with you; he eats grass like an ox. 16What strength he has in his loins, and what power in the muscles of his belly! 17He moves his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together. 18His bones are like strong pieces of bronze; his limbs are like bars of iron. 19He is first of the works of God (in size and might); only He Who made him can approach him with His sword. 20Surely the mountains provide his food, where all the animals of the field play. 21He lies under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and marsh. 22The lotus trees give him shade; the willows of the brook surround him. 23Behold, though the river rages, he is unperturbed, confident that he can drink all of it into his mouth. 24No one takes him unawares; or puts a ring in his nose to lead him away.
