1Then Bildad, the Shuhite, answered, 2“How long will your rant of words last? Talk sense, and rationally, so that we can discuss this. 3Why do you regard us as stupid and ignorant beasts? 4Because you tear your clothes in anger, should we fellow earth dwellers hide from you? And should rocks be moved out of their place? 5“Truly, if your light is put out, and the spark of your fire no longer shines, it is due to your wickedness. 6The light in the tent of the wicked shall be dark and his lamp shall be put out. 7His confident and strong stride shall be shortened, and his own counsel and schemes shall take him down. 8For he is caught in a net by his own feet, as he walks into a snare. 9The trap shall catch him by the heel, and shall prevail against him. 10The snare is laid in his path for him. 11Terrors shall grip him on every side, and chase at his heels. 12Hunger depletes his strength, and destruction shall stalk him. 13His very skin shall be devoured as terminal diseases sap his strength. 14He shall be torn from the security of his home and wealth; and brought down to the king of terrors (death). 15Death shall dwell in his tent, because it is no longer his; brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation. 16His roots shall be dried up below, and his branch above shall be cut off. 17The remembrance of him shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name in the street. 18He shall be driven from the kingdom of light into darkness, and chased out of the world (of the living). 19He shall have neither son nor nephew among his people, nor any survivors where he dwelt. 20They who come after him shall be astounded at his day, as they that went before were. 21Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked, and this is the place of him that neither knows or recognizes God.” Reader-Friendly Bible: Purple Letter Edition © 2024 by Jim Musser.
