1The word that Jeremiah, the prophet, spoke to Baruch, son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a scroll as dictated by Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim, son of Josiah, king of Judah: 2“Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, to you, O Baruch: 3‘You said, “Woe is me now! For the LORD has added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.” 4Baruch, this is what the LORD says: “What I have built, I will break down; and what I have planted I will uproot, throughout the whole earth. 5And should you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for I will bring disaster upon all people,” says the LORD; “But your life will I give to you for a reward, wherever you go.”’” Reader-Friendly Bible: Purple Letter Edition © 2024 by Jim Musser.
