1In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and His train filled the Temple. 2Above Him stood the seraphim: each one had six wings; with two they covered their face, and with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. 3And they called to one another: “Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory.” 4And their voices shook the doorposts of the Temple, which was filled with smoke. 5Then I said, “Woe is me! I am undone! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell among a people of unclean lips; and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.” 6Then one of the seraphim flew to me, with a live coal he had taken with the tongs from off the altar. 7And he touched my mouth with it, and said, “See, this has touched your lips, and your guilt is taken away, and your sin is purged.” 8Then I heard the voice of the LORD, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I; send me.” 9And He said, “Go, and tell this people, ‘You indeed hear, but never understand; and you indeed see, but never perceive’. 10Make the heart of this people calloused, and their ears dull, and shut their eyes; for they might otherwise see with their eyes, hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and healed.” 11Then I said, “For how long. LORD?” And He answered, “Until the cities lie ruined and without inhabitant, the houses empty, and the land utterly desolate, 12And until the LORD has sent (exiled) everyone far away, and the land is utterly forsaken. 13But even if a tenth still remains in it, or returns, it shall again be invaded, burned, and laid waste, but as a terebinth or oak tree leaves a stump when cut down, so Israel’s holy seed shall remain a stump in the land.” Reader-Friendly Bible: Purple Letter Edition © 2024 by Jim Musser.
