1Woe to the land of fluttering sails that lies along the headwaters of the Nile - Cush (Ethiopia) - 2The land that sends ambassadors by the sea in vessels of papyrus (bulrushes). saying, “Go, swift messengers, to a nation of tall and smooth-skinned people, feared far and wide, an aggressive nation whose land is divided by rivers.” 3All you who inhabit the world, and live on the earth, take note when He raises a banner on the mountains; and listen when He blows a trumpet. 4For so the LORD said to me (Isaiah), “I will watch quietly from My dwelling place, as quietly as shimmering heat in the sunshine, like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.” 5For before the harvest, when the blossom is gone, and the grape is ripening, He shall both cut off the sprigs with pruning hooks, and cut down and take away the spreading branches. 6They shall all be left to the birds of the mountains, and to the wild animals of the earth; and the birds shall feed on them all summer, and the animals all winter. 7At that time, gifts shall be brought unto the LORD Almighty from a people tall and smooth-skinned people, feared far and wide, an aggressive nation of strange speech whose land is divided by rivers (Egypt) – the gifts will be brought to Mount Zion, the place of the name of the LORD Almighty.
