1And the LORD said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household; for I have found you to be righteous before Me in this generation. 2Of every clean animal you shall take with you seven pairs, male and female, of every clean animal; and two of each kind of any animal that is not clean, male female. 3Of birds of the air, also, seven pairs, male and female; to ensure each of their species remains alive throughout all the earth. 4Seven days from now, I will cause it to rain upon the earth for forty days and nights; and I will wipe from off the face of the earth every living thing that I have created.” 5And Noah did all that the LORD commanded him. 6And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters came upon the earth. 7And then Noah, his sons, wife, and his sons’ wives entered the ark with him, to escape the flood waters, 8With pairs of clean and unclean animals, birds, and of everything that creeps upon the ground, 9They came to Noah, two by two, and entered the ark, male and female, as God had commanded Noah. 10And after seven days, the floodwaters were upon the earth. 11In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, on seventeenth day of the second month - on that one day - all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. 12And the rain fell upon the earth for forty days and nights. 13In one day, Noah, his sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth, Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons, entered the ark; 14They, and every animal after its kind, cattle, and everything that creeps upon the earth after its kind, and every bird - every sort, after its kind. 15They each entered the ark with Noah, two by two of all that breathes. 16All these animals went in, male and female, of all kinds, as God had commanded: and the LORD shut them in. 17And for forty days the flood was upon the earth; and the waters rose, and lifted the ark, until it floated above the earth. 18And the water continued to rise upon the earth; but the ark floated safely on the surface of the water. 19And the waters continued to rise, until the highest mountain peaks were covered. 20The waters rose another fifteen cubits (22.5 feet) higher than the tallest mountain peak; all the earth was covered. 21And everything that moved on land died - birds, cattle, wild animals, everything that creeps on the ground, and every man: 22All in whose nostrils was the breath of life; all that was left on the land died. 23Every living thing on the face of the ground was destroyed, both man, cattle, creeping things, and the birds of the sky; they were all wiped from the earth. Only Noah, and those that were with him in the ark, remained alive. 24And the waters flooded the earth for a hundred fifty days. Reader-Friendly Bible: Purple Letter Edition © 2024 by Jim Musser.
