1Again, the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 2“Son of man, turn and face Mount Seir, and prophesy against it, 3And say to it, ‘Thus says the Sovereign LORD: “Behold, I am your enemy, Mount Seir, and I will raise My fist against you, and I will make you a desolate ruin. 4I will lay your cities waste, and you shall be desolate, and you shall know that I am the LORD. 5Because you have harbored a perpetual hatred for Israel, and have shed the blood of My people, Israel, by wielding your sword against them in the time of their calamity, when My punishment for their iniquity had reached an end. 6Therefore, as surely as I live”, says the LORD God, “Since you have a fondness for bloodshed, with bloodshed I shall pursue you. 7“Thus will I make Mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it all that come and go. 8And I will fill your mountains with the bodies your slain men - in your hills, your valleys, and in all your rivers - shall they lie that were killed by the sword. 9I will make you forever desolate, and your cities shall not recover; and you shall know that I am the LORD. 10Because you have said, ‘The lands of Israel and Judah shall be mine, and we will occupy them; what do we care that the LORD is there?!’ 11Therefore, as surely as I live,” says the LORD God, “I will treat you in accordance with the anger and envy which you have displayed out of your hatred for them; and I will make Myself known among them, when I have judged you. 12And then you shall know that I am the LORD, and that I have heard all those hateful words which you have spoken against the mountains of Israel: ‘They are left defenseless; and are ours to devour.’ 13Thus with your own mouth you have boasted against Me, and have multiplied your words against Me; I have heard them. 14“This is what the LORD God says: ‘The whole earth will rejoice when I make you desolate. 15As you rejoiced when the inheritance of My people of Israel, was made desolate, so will I do to you; you shall be desolate, Mount Seir, and all of Edom; and they shall know that I am the LORD.’”’ Reader-Friendly Bible: Purple Letter Edition © 2024 by Jim Musser.
