1“At that time the LORD said to me, ‘Chisel out two stone tables (tablets) like the first ones, and come up onto the mount to Me, and make an ark (chest) of wood. 2And I will write on those tables the words that were on the first tables that you broke, and you shall put them in the ark.’ 3And I made an ark of acacia wood, and chiseled out two tables of stone like the first two, and went up into the mount, with the two tables in my hand. 4And He wrote on the tables what He had written on the first two tables - the ten commandments which the LORD proclaimed to you out of the blazing fire on the mountain on that day of the assembly: and the LORD gave them to me. 5And I turned and came down from the mountain, and put the tables in the ark that I had made, as the LORD commanded; and they are there now.” 6(The Israelites traveled from the wells of Beeroth Bene-Jaakan to Moserah, where Aaron died, and was buried; and Eleazar, his son, succeeded him in the priest's office. 7From there, they journeyed to Gudgodah; and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land of streams of water. 8At that time, the LORD set apart the tribe of Levi, to carry the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and to stand before the LORD, to minister unto Him, and to bless in His name, as they do this day. 9Therefore, Levi has no share or inheritance with his brethren; the LORD is Levi’s inheritance, as the LORD your God told them.) 10“And I stayed on the mount, for forty days and nights, as I did the first time; and the LORD listened to me at that time also, so that the LORD agreed to not destroy you. 11And the LORD said to me, ‘Go, and lead these people on their way, that they may enter and possess the land that I promised their fathers to give to them.’ 12“And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, except to fear (reverence) the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, to love Him, and to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, 13To keep the commandments of the LORD, and His statutes, which I (Moses) command you this day for your own good? 14Behold, the heavens, the highest heavens, and earth, belong to the LORD, your God, with all that they contain. 15Yet the LORD chose to love and had affection for your ancestors, above all people, as well as their progeny after them: you, as it is this day. 16Circumcise your hearts, therefore, and be no longer stubborn. 17For the LORD your God is God of gods, and LORD of lords, a great God, mighty, and awesome, Who shows no partiality, nor does He accept bribes; 18He ensures justice for the orphan and widow, and loves the stranger (foreigner), giving him food and clothing. 19And you are to love the sojourner (foreigner); for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt. 20You must fear and serve the LORD your God, cling to Him, and swear by His name alone. 21He is your praise, and He is your God, Who has done these great and awe-inspiring things for you, as you have seen with your own eyes. 22Your ancestors, who went down into Egypt, were seventy persons; and now the LORD your God has made you as numerous as the stars of heaven.
