1‘Hear this word, you cows of Bashan on the mountain of Samaria, you women who oppress the poor, and crush the needy, who say to your husbands, “Bring us something to drink”: 2The LORD God has sworn by His holiness that the time shall come, that He will take you away with hooks, and every last one of you shall be dragged with fishhooks. 3“And you shall go straight out through the breaks in the wall, every cow through the break before her; and you shall be thrown out of your fortresses”, says the LORD. 4“Go to Bethel, and sin by offering sacrifices to idols; go to Gilgal and sin even more; and bring your sacrifices each morning, and your tithes every three years; 5And offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leavened bread, and brag about your freewill offerings; for so you love to do, you people of Israel”, says the LORD God. 6“And I have also given you empty stomachs and cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and a lack of food in all your places; and yet you have not returned to Me”, says the LORD. 7“And I have also withheld the rain from you, when there were just three months to the harvest; and I caused it to rain upon one city, and not on another; one place was rained upon, and the place where it did not rain withered. 8So people from two or three towns wandered into one town, to get water to drink; but they were not satisfied; and still you have not returned to Me”, says the LORD. 9“I have stricken your gardens and your vineyards with blight and mildew; and when your fig and olive trees increased, the palmer worm devoured them; yet you have not returned to Me”, says the LORD. 10“I have sent plagues like what was experienced in Egypt among you; have I slain your young men with the sword, and have taken away your horses, and I have made the stench of your camps to come up into your nostrils; yet have you not returned to Me”, says the LORD. 11“I have overthrown some of you, as I overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and you were like a firebrand plucked out of the fire; yet have you not returned to Me”, says the LORD. 12“Therefore, I will do this to you, O Israel; and because I will do this to you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel.” 13He Who forms the mountains, and creates the wind, and reveals to man what He is thinking, Who makes the morning dawn into darkness, and treads upon the high places of the earth - The LORD, God Almighty, is His name.
