1The words of Amos, who was among the herdsmen of Tekoa, the vision which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah, and Jeroboam, son of Joash, kings of Israel, two years before the earthquake. 2And he said, “The LORD will roar from Zion, and utter His voice from Jerusalem; and the pastures of the shepherds shall dry up, and the top of Carmel shall wither. 3“Thus says the LORD: ‘For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not relent (rescind its punishment); because they have threshed Gilead with iron toothed sledges; 4But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall destroy the fortresses of Ben-hadad. 5I will also break the bar of the gate of Damascus, and slaughter the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and the king that holds the scepter from the house of Eden; and the people of Syria shall go into captivity to Kir’, says the LORD. 6‘Thus says the LORD: “For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not rescind its punishment; because they took captive whole communities, to sell them to Edom; 7But I will send a fire on the walls of Gaza, which shall devour its fortresses: 8And I will slaughter the inhabitants of Ashdod, and the king that holds the scepter from Ashkelon, and I will turn My hand against Ekron; and the last of the Philistines shall perish”, says the LORD God. 9‘Thus says the LORD: “For three transgressions of Tyre, and for four, I will not rescind its punishment; they took captive whole communities, to sell them to Edom, disregarding their treaty of brotherhood; 10But I will send a fire on the walls of Tyre, which shall destroy its fortresses. 11‘Thus says the LORD; “For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not rescind its punishment; because he pursued his brother with the sword, and slaughtered with no pity, and his anger perpetually burned, and he kept his wrath forever; 12But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the fortresses of Bozrah.” 13‘Thus says the LORD: “For three transgressions of the Ammonites, and for four, I will not rescind their punishment; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, so that they might expand their border; 14But I will kindle a fire in the walls of Rabbah, and it shall devour its fortresses, with shouts in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind; 15And their king shall go into captivity, he along with his princes,” says the LORD.
