1Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, sent to proclaim the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus, 2To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: grace, mercy, and peace, from God, the Father, and Christ Jesus, our Lord. 3I thank God, Whom I serve, just as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I remember you in my prayers, 4Greatly desiring to see you, as I remember your tears, that I may be filled with joy. 5When I recall your sincere faith, which first dwelt in your grandmother, Lois, and your mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that it resides in you, also. 6This is why I remind you to fan into flames the gift of God, which is in you, by the putting on of my hands. 7For God has not given us the spirit of fear or timidness; but of power, love, and self-discipline. 8So, do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me, His prisoner; but join with me in suffering for the gospel, according to the power of God, 9Who has saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not because of anything we have done, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus even before the world began, 10But has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior, Jesus Christ, Who has abolished death, and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, 11Which I am appointed to proclaim and preach, as an apostle, and teacher of the Gentiles. 12That is why I also suffer these afflictions; and yet, I am not ashamed; for I know Whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed (entrusted) unto Him until that day (the day of Christ’s return). 13Hold on to the pattern of sound teaching that you have learned from me, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. 14Guard the treasure of precious truth that was entrusted to you to keep by the Holy Spirit, Who dwells in us. 15You know that everyone in the province of Asia has deserted me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes. 16May the Lord show mercy to the household of Onesiphorus; because he often visited and encouraged me, and was not ashamed of my chains, 17But, when he came io Rome, he searched very diligently until he found me. 18May the Lord grant that he will find mercy from the Lord on that day of Christ’s return! And you know very well how helpful he was to me at Ephesus. Reader-Friendly Bible: Purple Letter Edition © 2024 by Jim Musser. Used by Permission. All rights Reserved. Bible Hub |
