1Then Solomon began to build the Temple of the LORD at Jerusalem in Mount Moriah, where the LORD had appeared to David, his father - the place that David had prepared in the threshing floor of Ornan, the Jebusite. 2He began to build on the second day of the second month, in the fourth year of his reign. 3Now these are the specifics in which Solomon was instructed for the building of the Temple of God. The length was sixty cubits (90 feet), and the width twenty cubits (30 feet). 4And the length of the porch (portico) in front of the house, matched the width of the house, twenty cubits (30 feet), and its height was a hundred twenty cubits (180 feet); and he overlaid the inside with pure gold. 5And he paneled the main room of the Temple with fir (cypress), which he overlaid with fine gold, and decorated it with palm trees and chains. 6And he decorated the Temple with precious stones for beauty; and the gold used was gold of Parvaim. 7He also overlaid the Temple, its beams, posts, walls, and doors with gold; and carved cherubim on the walls. 8And he built the most holy place (the Holy of Holies): its length was the same as the width of the Temple, twenty cubits (30 feet), and its width twenty cubits (30 feet); and he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six hundred talents (40,000 pounds). 9And the weight of the gold nails was fifty shekels (3,300 pounds) of gold. And he overlaid the upper chambers with gold. 10And for this Holy of Holies he sculptured a pair of cherubim figures, and overlaid them with gold. 11The wing span of the two cherubim was 20 cubits (30 feet); one wing of the one cherub was five cubits (7½ feet), reaching to the wall of the house; and the other wing was also five cubits, reaching to the wing of the other cherub. 12And wings of the other cherub were also five cubits, one reaching to the other wall; and the other wing reaching to the wing of the other cherub. 13The wings of these cherubim spanned twenty cubits (30 feet); and they stood on their feet, and faced the main room. 14And he made the veil (curtain) across its entrance of fine linen - blue, purple, and crimson, with cherubim embroidered on it. 15And in front of the Temple he (Huram) cast two pillars, thirty-five cubits (52½ feet) high, and the capital on the top of each of extended another five cubits (7½ feet). 16And he made interwoven chains, as in the inner sanctuary, and put them on the tops of the pillars; and made a hundred decorative pomegranates, and put them on the chains. 17And he erected the pillars in front of the Temple, one on the right hand, named “Jachin” (He shall establish); and the other on the left, named “Boaz” (in Him is strength).
