1Concerning the divisions of the gatekeepers: Of the Korahites was Meshelemiah, son of Kore, one of the sons of Asaph. 2And the sons of Meshelemiah were Zechariah, the first-born; Jediael, second; Zebadiah, third; Jathniel, fourth; 3Elam, fifth; Jehohanan, sixth; Elioenai, seventh. 4The sons of Obed-edom were Shemaiah, his first-born; Jehozabad, second; Joah, third; Sacar, fourth; Nethanel, fifth; 5Ammiel, sixth; Issachar, seventh; Peullethai, eighth; for God blessed Obed-edom. 6Sons were also born to Obed-edom’s son, Shemaiah, who ruled throughout the clan of their father; for they were mighty men of valor. 7Those sons of Shemaiah were: Othni, Rephael, Obed, Elzabad; their relatives were Elihu, and Semachiah, all capable men. 8All these were the sons of Obed-edom; they, their sons, and their relatives, sixty-two men able and strong for service. 9And Meshelemiah had eighteen sons and relatives, strong men. 10And Hosah, of the descendants of Merari, had sons: Shimri the head, (though he was not the first-born, yet his father made him the head); 11Hilkiah, the second; Tebaliah, the third; Zechariah, the fourth; all the sons and relatives of Hosah were thirteen. 12These were the divisions of the gatekeepers, among the chief men, having duties like their relatives, to minister in the Temple of the LORD. 13And they cast lots for each gate, the small as well as the great, according to the family of their fathers. 14And the lot for East Gate fell to Shelemiah. Then for Zechariah, his son, a wise counselor, and his lot came out for the North Gate; 15To Obed-edom, the South Gate; and to his sons, the lot for the storehouse. 16The lot for West Gate fell to Shuppim and Hosah, along with the gate Shallecheth, by the upper roadway, guard beside guard. 17There were six Levites for the East Gate, four Levites a day for the North Gate, four Levites a day for the West Gate, four Levites a day for the South Gate, two Levites at a time for the storehouse. 18At Parbar (summer house) west, there were four at the roadway, and two at the court itself. 19These were the divisions of the gatekeepers among the sons of Kore, and the sons of Merari. 20And of the Levites, Ahijah was over the treasuries of the Temple of God, and of the dedicated things. 21The descendants of Ladan: a son of Gershon, the heads of families, were Jehieli; 22And of the sons of Jehieli: Zetham, and Joel his brother, who oversaw the treasuries of the Temple of the LORD. 23Of the descendants of Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel: 24And Shebuel, son of Gershom, son of Moses, oversaw the treasuries. 25And his relatives, through Eliezer: Rehabiah, his son; and Jeshaiah, his son; and Joram, his son; and Zichri, his son; and Shelomith, his son; 26Shelomith and his relatives were in charge of the dedicated things of the treasury, which had been dedicated by King David, heads of families, officers over thousands and hundreds of men of the army, 27Out of the plunder taken in battles that they dedicated to repair and maintain the Temple of the LORD, 28As well as all that Samuel, the seer, Saul, son of Kish, Abner, son of Ner, and Joab, son of Zeruiah, had dedicated; and whoever else had dedicated anything, it was under the hand of Shelomith, and his relatives. 29From the clan of Izhar, Kenaniah and his sons were assigned administrative duties outside of the Temple, as officials and judges over Israel. 30And of the descendants of Hebron was Hashabiah and his relatives, a thousand, seven hundred men of valor, who were responsible for service of the LORD, and in the business of the king among the Israelites on the west side of the Jordan. 31Among these Hebronites was Jerijah, the head, according to the generations of his fathers. In the fortieth (and last) year of the reign of David, a search was made of the records, and capable men among these Hebronites were found at Jazer in Gilead. 32And the relatives of Jerijah, men of valor, were two thousand, seven hundred heads of families, whom King David made heads over the Reubenites, Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, for every matter pertaining to God, and affairs of the king.
