A Maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite. 1I Will sing of the lovingkindness of the LORD forever; 2For I have said, “Lovingkindness will be built up forever; 3“I have made a covenant with My chosen; 4I will establish your seed forever, 5And the heavens will praise Thy wonders, O LORD; 6For who in the skies is comparable to the LORD? 7A God greatly feared in the council of the holy ones, 8O LORD God of hosts, who is like Thee, O mighty LORD? 9Thou dost rule the swelling of the sea; 10Thou Thyself didst crush Rahab like one who is slain; 11The heavens are Thine, the earth also is Thine; 12The north and the south, Thou hast created them; 13Thou hast a strong arm; 14Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Thy throne; 15How blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! 16In Thy name they rejoice all the day, 17For Thou art the glory of their strength, 18For our shield belongs to the LORD, 19Once Thou didst speak in vision to Thy godly ones, 20“I have found David My servant; 21With whom My hand will be established; 22“The enemy will not deceive him, 23“But I shall crush his adversaries before him, 24“And My faithfulness and My lovingkindness will be with him, 25“I shall also set his hand on the sea, 26“He will cry to Me, ‘Thou art my Father, 27“I also shall make him My first-born, 28“My lovingkindness I will keep for him forever, 29“So I will establish his descendants forever, 30“If his sons forsake My law, 31If they violate My statutes, 32Then I will visit their transgression with the rod, 33“But I will not break off My lovingkindness from him, 34“My covenant I will not violate, 35“Once I have sworn by My holiness; 36“His descendants shall endure forever, 37“It shall be established forever like the moon, 38But Thou hast cast off and rejected, 39Thou hast spurned the covenant of Thy servant; 40Thou hast broken down all his walls; 41All who pass along the way plunder him; 42Thou hast exalted the right hand of his adversaries; 43Thou dost also turn back the edge of his sword, 44Thou hast made his splendor to cease, 45Thou hast shortened the days of his youth; 46How long, O LORD? 47Remember what my span of life is; 48What man can live and not see death? 49Where are Thy former lovingkindnesses, O Lord, 50Remember, O Lord, the reproach of Thy servants; 51With which Thine enemies have reproached, O LORD, 52Blessed be the LORD forever!
