Peter 2
KJV Easy Read Bible

Wherefore laying aside all malice and all guile, and: hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,   deceit

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that youp may grow thereby:   long for; pure

If so be youp have tasted that the Lord is gracious.   PS 34:8 | kind, pleasant

The Chosen Stone and his Chosen People

To whom coming, as to a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,   rejected

Youp also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.   EX 19:5 | living

Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on Him shall not be confounded.   PSA 118:22; ISA 28:16 | disappointed

To youp therefore which believe He is precious: but to them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereto also they were appointed.

But youp are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that youp should show forth the praises of Him who has called youp out of darkness into His marvellous light:   DEU 10:15; EX 19:5 | God’s own

Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.   HOS 2:23 | received

Living Before the World

Dearly beloved, I beseech youp as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;   beg; temporary residents

Having yourp conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against youp as evildoers, they may by yourp good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.   behavior, manner of life; observe

Submission to Government

Submit yourselvesp to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;   institution

Or to governors, as to them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

For so is the will of God, that with well doing youp may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

As free, and not using yourp liberty for a cloak of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.   freedom; pretext for evil

Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.   revere

Submission to Masters

Servants, be subject to yourp masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.   respect; crooked, unfair, unreasonable

For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.   commendable

For what glory is it, if, when youp be buffeted for yourp faults, youp shall take it patiently? but if, when youp do well, and suffer for it, youp take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.   harshly treated

For even hereto were youp called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that youp should follow His steps:

Who did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth:   ISA 53:9 | committed

Who, when He was reviled, reviled not again; when He suffered, He threatened not; but committed Himself to Him that judges righteously:

Who His own self bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live to righteousness: by whose stripes youp were healed.   ISA 53:12 | lash wounds

For youp were as sheep going astray; but are now returned to the Shepherd and Bishop of yourp souls.   ISA 53:6
