To the chief Musician upon Aijeleth Shahar, A Psalm of David. 1My God, my God, why have You forsaken Me? Why are You so far from helping Me, and from My anguished prayer?
O My God, I call day and night, but You do not answer, and I cannot rest.
But You are holy, O You Who are the object of Israel’s praises.
Our fathers trusted in You; they trusted, and You rescued them.
They cried unto You, and were delivered; they trusted in You, and were not disappointed.
But I am a worm, and not a man; scorned by men, and despised by all men.
All they who see Me mock Me; they sneer, they shake the head, saying,
“He trusts in the LORD; let Him save Him, since He delights in Him.”
But You are He Who took Me out of the womb; You made Me hope when I was upon My mother's breasts.
I was cast upon You from birth; You are My God from My mother's womb.
Be not far from Me; for trouble is near; and no one else can
I will declare Your name unto My brothers and sisters; in the center of the congregation, I will praise You.
Praise the LORD, all you who revere Him; and the descendants of Jacob, glorify and honor Him, all you of Israel.
For He has regarded the afflictions of the oppressed; nor has He turn away from Him; but when He cried to Him for help, He responded.
