New American Standard Bible The Words of Lemuel 1The words of King Lemuel, the oracle which his mother taught him:
What, O my son?
Do not give your strength to women,
It is not for kings, O Lemuel,
For they will drink and forget what is decreed,
Give strong drink to him who is perishing,
Let him drink and forget his poverty
Open your mouth for the mute,
Open your mouth, judge righteously,
The heart of her husband trusts in her,
She does him good and not evil
She looks for wool and flax
She is like merchant ships;
She rises also while it is still night
She considers a field and buys it;
She girds herself with strength
She senses that her gain is good;
She stretches out her hands to the distaff,
She extends her hand to the poor,
She is not afraid of the snow for her household,
She makes coverings for herself;
Her husband is known in the gates,
She makes linen garments and sells them,
Strength and dignity are her clothing,
She opens her mouth in wisdom,
She looks well to the ways of her household,
Her children rise up and bless her;
Many daughters have done nobly,
Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain,
Give her the product of her hands, New American Standard Bible Copyright © 1960, 1962, 1963, 1968, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1977, 1995 by The Lockman Foundation, La Habra, Calif. All rights reserved. For Permission to Quote Information visit http://www.lockman.org Bible Hub |
