New American Standard Bible Contrast the Upright and the Wicked 1The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish tears it down with her own hands.
He who walks in his uprightness fears the LORD,
In the mouth of the foolish is a rod for his back,
Where no oxen are, the manger is clean,
A trustworthy witness will not lie,
A scoffer seeks wisdom and finds none,
Leave the presence of a fool,
The wisdom of the sensible is to understand his way,
Fools mock at sin,
The heart knows its own bitterness,
The house of the wicked will be destroyed,
There is a way which seems right to a man,
Even in laughter the heart may be in pain,
The backslider in heart will have his fill of his own ways,
The naive believes everything,
A wise man is cautious and turns away from evil,
A quick-tempered man acts foolishly,
The naive inherit foolishness,
The evil will bow down before the good,
The poor is hated even by his neighbor,
He who despises his neighbor sins,
Will they not go astray who devise evil?
In all labor there is profit,
The crown of the wise is their riches,
A truthful witness saves lives,
In the fear of the LORD there is strong confidence,
The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life,
In a multitude of people is a kings glory,
He who is slow to anger has great understanding,
A tranquil heart is life to the body,
He who oppresses the poor taunts his Maker,
The wicked is thrust down by his wrongdoing,
Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding,
Righteousness exalts a nation,
The kings favor is toward a servant who acts wisely, New American Standard Bible Copyright © 1960, 1962, 1963, 1968, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1977, 1995 by The Lockman Foundation, La Habra, Calif. All rights reserved. For Permission to Quote Information visit http://www.lockman.org Bible Hub |
