New American Standard Bible A Prayer for Mercy 1Remember, O LORD, what has befallen us; Look, and see our reproach!
Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers,
We have become orphans without a father,
We have to pay for our drinking water,
Our pursuers are at our necks; 6We have submitted to Egypt and Assyria to get enough bread.
Our fathers sinned, and are no more;
Slaves rule over us;
We get our bread at the risk of our lives
Our skin has become as hot as an oven,
They ravished the women in Zion,
Princes were hung by their hands;
Young men worked at the grinding mill,
Elders are gone from the gate,
The joy of our hearts has ceased;
The crown has fallen from our head;
Because of this our heart is faint,
Because of Mount Zion which lies desolate,
You, O LORD, rule forever;
Why do You forget us forever?
Restore us to You, O LORD, that we may be restored;
Unless You have utterly rejected us New American Standard Bible Copyright © 1960, 1962, 1963, 1968, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1977, 1995 by The Lockman Foundation, La Habra, Calif. All rights reserved. For Permission to Quote Information visit http://www.lockman.org Bible Hub |
