New American Standard Bible Elihu Vindicates Gods Justice 1Then Elihu continued and said,
Hear my words, you wise men,
For the ear tests words
Let us choose for ourselves what is right;
For Job has said, I am righteous,
Should I lie concerning my right?
What man is like Job,
Who goes in company with the workers of iniquity,
For he has said, It profits a man nothing
Therefore, listen to me, you men of understanding.
For He pays a man according to his work,
Surely, God will not act wickedly,
Who gave Him authority over the earth?
If He should determine to do so,
All flesh would perish together,
But if you have understanding, hear this;
Shall one who hates justice rule?
Who says to a king, Worthless one,
Who shows no partiality to princes
In a moment they die, and at midnight
For His eyes are upon the ways of a man,
There is no darkness or deep shadow
For He does not need to consider a man further,
He breaks in pieces mighty men without inquiry,
Therefore He knows their works,
He strikes them like the wicked
Because they turned aside from following Him,
So that they caused the cry of the poor to come to Him,
When He keeps quiet, who then can condemn?
So that godless men would not rule
For has anyone said to God,
Teach me what I do not see;
Shall He recompense on your terms, because you have rejected it?
Men of understanding will say to me,
Job speaks without knowledge,
Job ought to be tried to the limit,
For he adds rebellion to his sin; New American Standard Bible Copyright © 1960, 1962, 1963, 1968, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1977, 1995 by The Lockman Foundation, La Habra, Calif. All rights reserved. For Permission to Quote Information visit http://www.lockman.org Bible Hub |
