So he attacked Jamnia at night, setting fire to its harbor and the ships there. The flames could be seen as far as Jerusalem, thirty miles away.

he attacked the Jamnites by night and set fire to the harbor and the fleet, so that the glow of the light was seen in Jerusalem, thirty miles distant.

So one night, he and his troops attacked the town and set fire to the harbor and its ships. The light from the fire could be seen 45 kilometers away in Jerusalem.
